Blossoming Through, Or In Spite Of Having A Traumatic Past

Poem on watercolor painting

This section is created to support those of you with a background of childhood sexual abuse–CSA

In writing this book over twenty years ago, I had no desire to seek revenge or hurt anyone. My hope was to further educate people in the reality of and recovery from CSA (childhood sexual abuse). Ignorance about this topic can be damaging and dangerous. Unfortunately, my story is far from uniqueAt times, telling it has been helpful for other victims, their loved ones, physicians, clergy, therapists and perpetrators.

Dear Sister, Once Abused A Story of Hope and Freedom From the Bondage of Childhood Sexual Abuse Victoria Lynn Foreword by Dr. Carlfred Broderick

This book that I wrote, DEAR SISTER, ONCE ABUSED is my story of hope and freedom from the bondage of childhood sexual abuse. It is available for purchase on Amazon.

Since the discovery and thus-far recovery from CSA, I have learned to pay more attention to pleasant moments and fresh dreams. I prefer to look for good things, and in writing this book many have come down from heaven in small and miraculous ways.

I am in the process of writing an updated version to include the learnings and happenings since the book was written. I also have some illustration additions.

“As a psychiatrist who works with abuse issues, I find this book makes sense. It is rare to find someone with enough courage to talk openly about the process of healing with clarity and insight. This book, written candidly and honestly, shows agony, despair and triumphs through the eyes of a trained psychiatric nurse.”

Dear sister is a welcome addition the survivor literature. Lynn offers a thoughtful, accurate resource, grounded in but not limited to her own experience. As a woman of faith, she shares her powerful journey as a witness to the possibilities of healing. Clergy will find this book very useful to increase their awareness of what survivors of child sexual abuse need and how they can help rather than hinder the process.”

“Thanks to Dear Sister Once Abused, I have been inspired to tell and heal.”

This book is about how one person has struggled with private pain. It is, in my view, a courageous and effective attempt to share what she has learned from the process that she hopes might be helpful to others, both those struggling with the issues in their own lives and those who are committed to do what they can to help others through the process. The author is herself a nurse and so brings some of the discipline and objectivity of her professional training to bear on the issues. She is a person of faith, and this healing perspective adds a depth to her story that I find missing in more clinically sterile approaches. But finally and above all, she is an honest and compassionate person dealing with a challenge, which she believes, is best met with the help of others who care.
