Rain or shine you will find me listening regularly through my air/ bone conduction headphones to treated renditions of the masters with my favorite being Mozart.
Because my music therapy includes auditory, balance, and movement activities, I listen while walking, dancing, doing stretches, or balancing on the balance board. After 30 minutes of listening my mind is recharged with energy and creativity, I am able to express myself more fluently, my ability to focus increases, and a much-needed calm settles me. My voice seems richer and words more easily flow.
How grateful I am for the scientifically proven ability of the brain cells to regenerate and that neurotransmission can be increased. This helps decrease my concerns about “maturing” in that I am doing what I can to improve memory and increase awareness.
My mother always wondered how I could be both “scatterbrained” and intelligent. It is true, that my natural self is easily distracted and tangential. I am also subject to anxiety familiar to most creative people. After trying medications I found music to be most helpful. Five days a week, 30 to 60 minutes donned in headphones work wonders for me. I feel grounded in my body and more alert. I’m grateful for the music masters and those who have developed and made possible this powerful boost and that I can professionally assist others with this development.
